In just under 13 years Minopex has grown into one of the world’s leading exponents in the outsourced operation and maintenance of minerals and metals processing plants. From just one employee in 1996, the company now boasts a workforce of over 1 400 at its operations in South Africa and Lesotho (the Lesotho operations are conducted through Minopex Lesotho (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Minopex (Pty) Ltd).
Minopex works closely with its sister company DRA Mineral Projects, which has been successfully involved in some of the most challenging and exciting mining developments in the world. It has the expertise to conceptualise and design mineral processing plants from run-of-mine ore to saleable product in the platinum, coal, diamond, gold, base metals and chromium sectors, amongst others. The synergistic relationship between DRA’s project and Minopex’s operational teams offers clients accelerated production build-up to earliest achievement of name plate capacity, thus speeding up the generation of revenue streams.
By handing over certain aspects of the processing function to Minopex, new mines can reduce up-front capital costs on equipment and engineering facilities, and operating mines can minimise operating costs. In addition, Minopex is able to guarantee continuity of production, has the flexibility to manage exceptional conditions and is able to remain focused on the specifics of the operation under its control to ensure that it achieves the financial and quality goals of the contract.
The synergy between Minopex and DRAMP offers clients a ‘one stop shop’ for their processing requirements where execution of a project from its inception, through feasibility studies, design, detailed engineering, construction and finally to operations is a seamless transition with DRA and Minopex offering value all along the supply chain.
