Marikana is located approximately 25 km east of Rustenburg in the North West Province. The contract is for the operation and maintenance of Aquarius Platinum Mines' Marikana concentrator, which commenced operations in December 2002. The operation has the capacity to process in the order of 2.7 million tons of ROM material a year. It runs 365 days a year and has a total complement of 126 personnel. Process scope of work covers crushing, screening, dense medium separation, milling, flotation, thickening, tailings dewatering and spiral chromite recovery. Mining is currently opencast and underground mining should commence during 2008.
