Situated approximately 1 km north of the Kroondal 1 site, this plant was commissioned early in 2005 and, along with Kroondal 1, forms part of the pooling and sharing agreement that was concluded in early 2004 between Aquarius Platinum and Anglo Platinum. The K2 operation processes 3.2 million tons of ROM material a year to produce in excess of 250 000 oz per annum of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs). The operation runs 24/7, 365 days a year and has a total complement of 115 personnel. Process scope of work covers crushing, screening, dense media separation, milling, flotation, thickening, spiral chromite recovery, dewatering as well as the deposition of DMS waste material.
Operational Standards The facility will be run and managed to the same exacting standards as the K1 project and at required maturity will attain its rightful accreditation status.
