Kroondal, the first outsourced Platinum concentrator project in South Africa, is located approximately 15 km east of Rustenburg in the North West Province. The contract is for the operation and maintenance of Kroondal Platinum Mines’ concentrator on behalf of Aquarius Platinum (SA). Processing operations commenced in August 1999. This operation processes 3.6 million tons of ROM material a year and produces in excess of 250 000 oz per annum of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs). It runs 24/7, 365 days a year and has a total complement of 122 personnel. Process scope of work covers crushing, screening, dense media separation, milling, flotation, thickening, spiral chromite recovery and dewatering as well as the deposition of DMS waste material.
