Vaalkrantz is located approximately 35 km east of Vryheid on the Vryheid/Louwsberg Road in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The contract, with Leeuw Mining and Exploration (Pty) Ltd, commenced late in 2004 and has a throughput of 720 000 tons a year. The coal is processed for local and export anthracite markets. Operation is seven days a week, 52 weeks a year with a staff complement of 36 personnel. Scope of work covers the handling of ROM coals, coal washing and product loading for road transport.

Operational Standards

The facility is run and maintained to the same exacting standards as all Minopex projects and at required maturity will attain its rightful accrediattion status.
