Forzando is located 25 km north of Bethal on the Bethal/Hendrina road in Mpumalanga. The contract was initially signed in 1996 with the Avmin organisation and when the mine was bought by Total Coal SA in 1999, Minopex remained as the operation and maintenance contractor. The operation processes 3.6 million tons of ROM coal a year for the export steam coal and local market and operates 24/7 with a complement of 82 personnel. Scope of work covers the handling of ROM coals, coal processing, export train loading and the management of discard and tailings facilities under direct sub-contract.
