Dorstfontein is located approximately 5 km east of Kriel on the Kriel/Witbank road in Mpumalanga. The contract, which commenced early in 1999, is with Total Coal (SA). The operation processes 867 000 tons of ROM a year, and produces metallurgical coal and export steam coal for power generation. It operates for five and a half days a week, 52 weeks a year, with a total complement of 38 personnel. Scope of work covers the handling of ROM coals, coal processing, product loading for road transport and the management of discard and tailings facilities under direct sub-contract.
